Rebecca & Michael~Sneak Peek

To contact us Click HERE
The Mountain Terrace is a stunning outdoor and indoor venue in Woodside, California to host your wedding. You can experience your ceremony in the grassy meadow that boasts bay views peeking through a redwood grove. Dining outdoors on the expansive redwood deck allows your reception guests to take in the breathtaking views at The Mountain Terrace.

As an alternative, the rustic beauty of the country-style lodge provides the backdrop for a cozy and intimate reception.
It is here, settled among the redwoods and eucalyptus trees, where Rebecca and Michael will be married. They have a terrific day planned, including an outdoor ceremony, and a buffet dinner on the terrace. Later, guests are invited indoors to enjoy music, and continuing reception elements including the cake cutting and bouquet toss.

It has been our pleasure to assist Rebecca and Michael, as they have planned for this day for a very long time. We are thrilled to be there with them as they begin this new adventure in their lives.

Christina & Cody's Wedding

Christina and Cody knew that they wanted a barn wedding. It was just a matter of finding the perfect barn. It just happened that Christina's friend was raised on a ranch, just outside of Gardnerville, in Wellington, Nevada, a beautiful ranch and farmland valley at the base of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. A ninety minute drive from Reno, the barn and ranch were perfect. Christina had found a working barn, that was immaculate! It had a built-in dance floor, and a raised platform, perfect for their wedding ceremony. A large tent was put up outside the barn, for the dinner reception. High winds the day before the wedding, made for some last minute clean up that was unexpected, but with the dust shaken off, everything was clean and ready to go!
All brides need to remember this saying! Christina was the perfect "go-with-the-flow" type of bride, and even when her Grandma fainted just as Christina was ready to walk down the aisle, she was calm. Everything turned out OK with Grandma, and it was the perfect wedding day!
The view from the barn in Wellington, Nevada The tack room was creatively used as the bar area, with all the ranch tack in place. We were amazing at the cleanliness of this huge barn! The raised wooden platform, softened by a draped arch, allowed Christina and Cody to stand above their guests and be seen by all as they exchanged wedding vows.

It was an honor to assist Christina and Cody with the wedding coordination needs. Their wedding day was a great one to remember, and we wish them a lifetime of happiness, love and fond memories of their wedding day. xoxo Liane

Melanie & Elric's Wedding

To contact us Click HERE
Melanie and Elric had a fantastic wedding day! Their wedding ceremony and reception were held at The Genoa Lakes Country Club, in Genoa, Nevada, just an hour south of Reno.Small live butterflies were released at the end of the ceremony and filled the sunset sky below the Sierra Mountain Range, just to the west of the ceremony location.
Their spectacularly delicious wedding cake featured the colors of the Fall season.
The rustic charm of the Genoa Lake Country Club was enhanced by all the creative touches that Melanie hand crafted. Small favor bags set at each place setting, were a nice treat for guests to take home.
Melanie handmade her centerpieces which included hydrangeas in bright orange, and eggplant colors, with copper curls and lighted twigs that made each table look magical.
Over the course of their wedding planning period, we established a close relationship with Melanie, and it was such a pleasure being there with her as she Elric were married. We are so excited for them, and know that they are meant to be together forever! xoxo Liane

Mellisa and Benjamin's Wedding

To contact us Click HERE

Mellisa and Benjamin came all the way from Atlanta, Georgia to be married at Edgewood Country club on the Southwest shore of Lake Tahoe.
It had to be one of the most spectacular November weather days in recent history. Mellisa planned for a cooler, sunset ceremony, providing baskets filled with beautiful shawls for all the lady-guests, hand warmers and two fire pits to keep everyone warm during the ceremony. They were appreciated, but not needed, as the evening was perfect.
As the sun began to set, the air was totally calm, and warm, with such silence, that you might have imagined that we were the only ones on the entire Lake! A flock of Canadian geese flew overhead just as Mellisa and Benjamin were married, with two geese floating on the water just behind them. It was truly magical.
We could not have asked for a more perfect day. With terrific vendors, including Ciprian Photography and Moonlight Mobile DJ, everyone had a terrific time celebrating with the bride and groom.

It was such a pleasure working with Mellisa as she prepared and looked forward to her wedding day. We wish her and Benjamin a wonderful married life and a future filled with overflowing love and happiness!

A Smart Bride's Way To DIY

DIY Butterfly Cloche courtesy of Country Living Magazine Have you considered making centerpieces out of glass for your wedding day? The Butterfly Cloche above from Country Living Magazine would make a great highlight for a wedding featuring butterflies or nature themes. For the tutorial (and other great craft ideas) go to Country Living Magazine.  Mini dome DIY project from Country Living Magazine No bride wants to get so bogged down in a diy project that her wedding planning starts to become work. For a bride planning a DIY wedding, choosing extremely difficult or time consuming projects takes away the fun factor!  If you are looking for a less formal look, try these mini domes. They are made using glasses (turned upside down of course) with tiny keepsakes inside. Personalize your guests' wedding tables with 'a few of your favorite things.' To find the tutorial go to Country Living Magazine online. I love the personal look these give you. You don't have to use them for all the tables, but they would be cute added to your guest book table or other side table.  The best part of these DIY projects? They are rated EEEBCDI (easy enough even Bill can do it).  For those of you just starting to read my blog you may not realize I am not crafty, but my husband is worse. I mean he's great at some things, fixing things, putting things together, but not tiny little projects like this. So I test out the ease of the tutorial by having him try them out. If it's rated EEEBCDI, your groom should have no problem either, which makes these projects all the more fun. Or if you are all thumbs, they will be easy enough you can do them without the stress no bride to be needs during her wedding planning! Have fun, that's the whole point of this!

Becky’s Suzani Chair

To contact us Click HERE
Good morning, friends!

My latest upholstery job was picked up by the owners this morning. This chair was totally unique to me, both in how it was upholstered and how new it was (i.e. newer methods of upholstery, whereas I’m used to furniture that is 20+ years old!). This chair was just over 10 years old, so it wasn’t brand new, but it was in great shape–just needed some new clothes!

Becky had been eyeing this awesome fabric and then, after some time, found it on clearance (like less than $10/yard!) and bought all 5.5 yards. Seriously an awesome deal! I, too, had been eyeing this fabric for awhile, so I was more than excited to get to work with it!

I will say that this chair is MUCH bigger than it reads on-screen. When Becky was asking me for a quote, she texted me a picture of the chair (that’s pretty much how I do business ;) …then her husband brought it by. Here’s a picture of me (average-sized 5’4″ person) in it. I posted this picture on the MYU facebook page earlier this week (like us on facebook for constant behind-the-scenes stuff!), so you may be seeing this again, but isn’t that crazy?

See? Ginormous. I had to essentially crawl into the chair just to upholster the back.

Now for some detail shots…

Love me some zippered cushions…
Unless the corners are uber-specific…these had me up until 4 am. :(
Mmm…double welting! Fun fact: between the double welting on the chair frame and piping on the cushions, this chair took over 40 yards of welting cord. That’s 120 FEET…nearly half of a football field! It never ceases to amaze me how much piping I have to sew for upholstery projects. Needless to say…after all of the piping that’s been created for various pieces of furniture over the past year, my sewing machine and I are pretty much professional piping makers now. ;)
The back was upholstered, too!
I love how it turned out and Becky did too. And I’m happy when my clients are happy! :) On another note…look what came in the mail this week… I’m simultaneously thrilled to death and scared to death every time I use it. It’s AWESOME. There’s a whole new world of sewing to learn now. I ultimately decided that if people are paying me to sew slipcovers and upholster furniture for them (plus, buying items from my etsy shop, now!), then the seams need to be professionally finished, without spending twice the time on french seams. If anyone has any serging/overlocking tips, feel free to share them! I’m mostly hoping Raechel Myers decides to do a series on overlocking, since her “Sewing 101” series was seriously the most helpful thing I’ve found in my sewing lifetime! I first recommended it here, and I still completely back the fact that everyone should take it, either as a beginner or as someone who might need a refresher course! I start another upholstery job this week (I’m actually booked through the end of the year–woohoo!) and then we have Thanksgiving! Enjoy and be safe during the holiday week, friends!
