2013 Wedding Trends

If you are recently engaged or plan to become engaged soon, congratulations! Now the fun begins!  Planning your wedding can be as exciting as it is challenging, and choosing the theme and where your wedding reception will be, can be the best part of your wedding plans. Hire a wedding coordination professional to keep you on track and focused, style and budget-wise. If you are not sure what your plans will be, it’s important that you do some research and determine your likes and dislikes and create a list of must-haves for your wedding reception.  
Here are some of our favorite trending must-haves for weddings in 2013:
 Signature Appetizers and Drinks – This is the number one trend for this year for weddings.  This adds a personal touch that will wow your guest and can be a lot of fun too.  Some couples offer one or two signature cocktails along with beer and wine instead of a full open bar as a way to reduce overall costs and to expand the theme of their wedding.
 Themed Centerpieces and Décor – Paying special attention to your wedding venue décor can pay off in spades when you enter the reception on your special day.  Not only can the decorations and design of your reception center add warmth and beauty, it can showcase your relationship with your new spouse and continue the look and feel of all of your planning into the atmosphere of your reception.  Think hanging arrangements, unique table numbers or place cards and terrariums for adding interest and beauty to each table.  
 Photo Booth – These are quickly becoming the hottest wedding reception accessory going.  Not only is it great entertainment for your guests (especially when props are involved) but many newer booths can provide the photos instantly so that guest can take them home that day!  Another great way for the bride and groom to enjoy this is to create a photo booth guest album for you.  Guaranteed you will not be able to get certain guests out of the booth!

 Awesome Band or DJ – Music is and always will be an integral party to any wedding celebration.  Keeping your guests on the dance floor all night is a tough job, but with the help of a band or a DJ you can keep the party going without having to do it yourself.  Most bands and DJ’s take requests from guests and even participate in bringing people out on the dance floor. They can also make your entrance as man and wife into the reception dramatic and exciting.  Don’t forget to work with your DJ or band to plan for your first dance and any other special dances during your reception.
 Large Space with Higher Ceilings – the look and feel of your reception venue can play an important role in how much your guests enjoy your wedding.  Be sure to view the center before you book so you can be sure the space is adequate for your size party.  Also take into consideration the overall flow of the rooms from the cocktail hour to the main dinner area and look up to make sure the ceilings are high and roomy as opposed to low and crowded.  Try to view the room at a time when it is set up for a wedding so that you can check the space between tables and chairs to ensure your guest have plenty of room. And don’t forget the dance floor – size does matter!  

 Bridal Suite – Many brides prefer to have a separate bridal suite to freshen up and relax in between the ceremony and reception.  Not all reception centers can accommodate this important must-have, so check before you book your reception. You may also want to decide if you and/or your wedding party will spend most of the cocktail hour in the bridal suite or if you will be stopping in quickly to freshen up and then join your guest during cocktails. Either way, having some private space for the bride, groom and bridal party will make for some private time to take in the day and catch your breath before the party starts.
Hiring a Professional Wedding Coordinator- Make sure you have the guidance of a profesional coordinator. Whether they assist you with the complete design of your event, or just assist you on your wedding day, their help is invaluable. Rely on the experts to make sure you have a stress-free wedding day!
