Do you guys remember the five antique/vintage chair frames I was offering up for free a few weeks ago? Well, most of them were claimed within a few hours, which was so awesome! Two of them are already done, so I wanted to share the transformations! In true Alina style, we have a lot of pictures.
Without further ado, I introduce you to the new-and-improved “Serena”:
I was able to re-use the original springs since they were still in great shape, but did have to strip everything off and start fresh. Here’s the newly-rebuilt spring seat!
And here are some detail shots of this beauty…
Serena was my favorite…the one I wanted to keep for myself (especially as I was finishing it) for my “someday” nursery, but I’m so happy that it went to a good home. (Attached to my furniture much?!) And let’s face it…had I kept it, I would have to move it across the country in a few months and there are no babies on the horizon, so it’s in a better place (haha!).
And now, we visit “Isybella.” The very nice lady who claimed Isybella was just a reader of my blog…an innocent bystander, if you will. She saw the original blog post and asked for more info via comment. She came over a couple of weeks later with some fabric from her stash, and this beautiful fabric happened to be in it! I love the blue, green and brown and how the flowers complement the frame! She opted to keep the frame as-is (which I was over the moon about!), so I just cleaned it up and rejuvenated it with a coat of linseed oil (I actually did that to Serena as well). This chair did have a wooden “seat,” so I gave her the option of padding the wooden seat OR building a new spring seat. She saw this chair as going in her bedroom and being a chair to crawl up in, so she opted to invest a bit more to have this chair be comfortable and last longer. (Smart woman!!) So, I ordered new springs and got to work!
Beautiful, right? I’m so happy to see both of these chairs go home with happy customers. It makes all of the hours worth it!
P.S. Remember Winston? He had been claimed before I announced the sale, but unfortunately the buyer had to back out last-minute. SO, if you loved this chair and I already turned you down because it was claimed, you’re in luck: I’ve already bought all of the materials to rebuild the seat and she had a place in my fully-booked schedule. I’ll keep that spot in the schedule (first week of March) open for you if you want Winston. But let me know fairly soon (by next week) because I’m going to dip into my wait list to fill the spot!
